At Porter Brown we firmly believe there are three – equally acceptable – attitudes to Inheritance Tax.
1. Do Nothing! Spend it. Enjoy life. The kids can pay the tax out of "what's left". And invariably they will be happy with that decision.
2. Tie yourself up in knots with complex trusts. Lose control. Lose flexibility.
3. A satisfying course somewhere in between.
However, if you wish to pursue the possibility of some Inheritance Tax (IHT) planning, Porter Brown can help. IHT planning is not rocket science. It follows logical steps. If you do nothing IHT will be due on death on assets over and above (currently) £312,000.
Of course if you wish to do nothing but still pay less IHT you can always rely on no change in the law and leave your planning until after you have died . . .
Planning from the grave can be very effective and is legitimate.
Planning where the estate is worth millions is likely to be different from where the IHT bill is minimal. So this site is not the place to proffer advice.
WHATEVER YOUR DECISION, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT AT THE END OF THE DAY, ANY PLANNING UNDERTAKEN SHOULD HAVE BEEN A PLEASURE – NOT A BURDEN. SOMETHING YOU ARE GENUINELY PLEASED TO HAVE DONE.
What is not a burden is the jargon free, easy to read, Porter Brown Inheritance Tax Guide. So if you would like more of your wealth to pass to your children and grandchildren - rather than the Exchequer - simply complete the form below to receive your free copy.
